Go to IXL
Dear Families,
I am pleased to tell you that we will be using a website called IXL at school this year. IXL is a comprehensive math review site with an unlimited number of practice questions in many skill areas—all of which are aligned to concepts in our math program.
For first graders, IXL will be used at school for practicing specific math concepts and is available to be used at home for review. Students will not be assigned work in IXL but may use it as a tool for additional math practice, if they choose to.
Your child has practiced navigating to IXL through our Learning Portal and is learning to independently log in in at school or at home.
It may take a few tries for your child to master this independently, and this is part of the learning process. If your child has difficulty accessing the website, encourage them to seek help at school the next day. This habit of mind encourages personal responsibility in your child and supports the development of a more independent learning process at home.
1. Your child should be able to access IXL through EMS’s Learning Portal.
2. Once there, this web address can be bookmarked on the browser of your home computer. www.IXL.com/signin/elisabethmorrow
3. Your child should know their username and password, as it is the same as Wixie. If they forget, they should let us know.
In addition to making math practice exciting, IXL is designed to help your child learn at their own pace. The website is adaptive and will adjust to your child's demonstrated ability level.
Here's to a year of working together to engage your children in math learning that's exciting and fun!
Sincerely,
Ms. Almstead
